What the rain reminds me of...
It felt as if the sky split open and rain began to hit the earth. With every rumbling thunder, the building that I am in shakes. Glory be to Allah, the Creator of all things.
It has been pouring for half an hour now. I am grateful for the rain, I somehow prefer it to the hot scorching sun, especially in the afternoons.
Watching the raindrops fall at an angle... these memories flood my mind...
- The time in Form 6 at St. John's Institution where, together with 3 other friends, we went walking in the rain and stepped into class somewhat drenched, and having our Maths teacher, Miss Wee, looking at us in disbelief.
- Rushing back from school in the rain, with soggy socks in equally soggy shoes.
- How I would love to walk in the rain and feel the drops gently hit my face - ah, pure bliss.
- Sleeping in on a cold, rainy day... nicely tucked under the covers with a favourite book!
- How it is a blessing from Allah... it helps plants grow... it fills dams, rivers... it purifies and cleanses...
- How rain sent by Allah destroyed the people of Ad when they did not heed prophet Hud's call to worship none but Allah...
Subhanallah...
The rain has subsided now. It is still raining but not as hard. It is the inter-monsoon season, hence the heavy rains this past couple of weeks. Soon, the East-West Monsoon will be upon us and the East Coast of Malaysia would be in its peak season again!
Subhanallah...
Everything is from Allah. The wide open seas, the green lush forests, the white sandy beaches. He created all these for us, the best of creations, i.e. the human being.
But He did create us with only one purpose, i.e. to worship none but Him, and to not associate any partners with Him.
He laid down His rules for us, His creation. He revealed guidance to us, through the Holy Qur'an and the final prophet. Guidance on how to live this life to the best we can, for the betterment of this world and the hereafter.
What more could mankind ask for?
"It is God who has created the heavens and the earth and sends down rain from the skies, and with it brings out fruits wherewith to feed you; it is He who has made the ships subject to you, that they may sail through the sea by His command; and the rivers (also) has He made subject to you." Qur'an, 14:32

"O ye people! Adore your Guardian-Lord, who created you and those who came before you, that ye may have the chance to learn righteousness; Who has made the earth your couch, and the heavens your canopy; and sent down rain from the heavens; and brought forth therewith Fruits for your sustenance; then set not up rivals unto Allah when ye know (the truth)." Qur'an 2:21-22
